The Circle is excited to be offering the third round of our year long fellowship program called "Partners in Reciprocity" (PiR) - a thoughtfully designed peer learning program dedicated to supporting philanthropic teams in a reorientation toward equity and justice. PiR is comprised of four gatherings, one for each season: Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall as well as five half day sessions: Orientation, Courage, Renewal, Kinship and Integration. PiR will culminate at The Circle's Fall Feast where the Collective Harvest will be shared with peers in the sector.
Partners in Reciprocity is a new way of working. While we aim to teach and deliver content (described below), the flow of the program will also be determined by what is needed by the participants and what the current context is calling for. The program will iterate and evolve throughout the year, and all of you will be a part of that process.

What you need to know:
Organizations are asked to put aside $2,500 - 5,000 dollars for travel and accommodation to PiR's in person gathering in June 2023. The location of the June gathering will be shared in the PiR 2023 Acceptance letter.
THE PROGRAM:
PiR participants are required to commit to the program in its entirety. Session attendance will be taken and participants with lower than 85% attendance will not complete the program.
One of the things we've learned from the first two cohorts of PiR is that it is challenging to get people and organizations to share the messy, internal work and learning that is happening inside their organizations as change occurs. In 2023, this will be a requirement of the program. Fellows will be asked to present at All My Relations, The Circle Fall Feast or another conference of your choosing. By applying as a fellow in PiR 2023 fellows are expected to acknowledge the understanding of this expectation, and ensure that necessary senior leadership of their organization is aware of this as well.
THE PROGRAM:
- PiR is a year long commitment: January 2023 - November 2023
- PiR will consist of four virtual day-long gatherings:
- January 18 2023 | Half Day | ORIENTATION
- February 8 2023 | Full Day | WINTER
- March 15 2023 | Half Day | COURAGE
- April 12 2023 | Full Day | SPRING
- May 10 2023 | Half Day | RENEWAL
- June 12 2023 | Full Day | SUMMER | IN PERSON
- September 13 2023 | Half Day | KINSHIP
- October 11 2023 | Full Day | FALL
- November 15 2023 | Half Day | INTEGRATION
- Each session will have pre-reading and pre-work, and that will be sent out at least one week in advance of the session.
- There is an expectation of personal reflection and work inside each organization in between each session. We suggest at least a full day per month be set aside for this purpose. This could be an organizational commitment (i.e. not just the participating team), and could take the form of board meetings, executive leadership meetings, staff retreats, etc.
- PiR's Summer session on June 12 2023 will be held in person. Organizations are asked to put aside $2,500 - 5,000 dollars for their teams travel and accommodation. The location of the June gathering will be shared in the PiR 2023 Acceptance letter.

TEAM COMPOSITION:
- Each team should include a minimum of three people and a maximum of six people.
- At least one team member must come from either the organization Executive team or Board.
- Existing PiR participants are welcome to join again and/or invite other organizational team members to participate.
* If you are stuck as to who should participate on your Organizational Team, consider the following:
- PiR is a hands-on program with the core intention of actioning learnings to directly impact strategy, practice, and policy. With that in mind we invite you to engage members of your staff who have the power and positionality to uphold that intention.
- You are invited to prioritize Black, Indigenous, and people of colour (BIPOC) staffers and board members - be sure to consider a balance between positional power and BIPOC staff - and ensure staff have the safety to participate in this program and power to integrate their learnings.
