Our board (The Governing Circle) is in a season of transition and growth. We are recruiting three new directors to fill completed terms, and ensure we are in compliance with our by-laws.We invite you to help activate the moccasin telegraph and amplify this call with your communities, networks and colleagues, or perhaps consider it for yourselves.
The Circle on Philanthropy (The Circle) works alongside our members to transform the philanthropic sector to redistribute wealth, activate wisdom and strengthen organizational infrastructure for the purpose of Indigenous peoples, communities and nations. We do this by bringing our presence, participation, hosting and wisdom creation to our shared labour for change.

With continued organizational growth anticipated in the Seasons ahead, we require a variety of skill sets to support and guide new directions and big opportunities. We endeavour to activate our values of diversity, equity and inclusion and invite equity-seeking individuals to join us in moving our mission, vision and values forward.
The Circle is seeking the gift of time and knowledge from both Indigenous and non-Indigenous candidates who have skill sets in one or more of the following areas:

- Charitable law
- Social finance and ethical investing
- Indigenous trusts, trustee education and management
- Corporate social responsibility with a lens for activating UNDRIP
- Experience working in philanthropy
- Lived experience and/or connections to and within Indigenous communities
In an effort to honour and encourage diverse geographic representation and wisdom in this recruitment cycle we will prioritize:
- Candidates who are Indigenous
- Candidates who are French speaking and based in Quebec
- Candidates who reside outside of Ontario
- Candidates who are younger than 35
- Candidates with lived experience as black, racialized, members of the LGBTQ2S+ community, and folks with disabilities

Governing Circle Members are asked to:
- Engage in an orientation and in ongoing board education opportunities
- Participate in 8 teleconferences and one in-person retreat meeting per year
- Participate in one Circle committee
- Contribute their skills and expertise to advancing our strategic directions
- Involve themselves as ambassadors for the organization
- Overall the time commitment is between 8 and 12 hours per quarter
