CALL FOR WRITERS

Overview

The Circle on Philanthropy recently launched a new project that’s the first of its kind: The Feast House. The Feast House is a place to celebrate Indigenous abundance and uplift Indigenous authority and sovereignty.

We are now looking for a writer to work with our kin and develop 20 organizational profiles, including photos, to add to the Feast House, amplifying the vision and value of Indigenous-led organizations across the lands called canada.

About Us

The Circle transforms philanthropy and contributes to positive change between Philanthropy and Indigenous communities by creating spaces of learning, innovation, relationship-building, co-creation, and activation. The Circle works alongside our community to encourage individuals and organizations to learn, acknowledge, and understand more about reciprocity and the redistribution of wealth.

About You

You are a confident and clear writer with a strong lens on Indigenous rights, sovereignty and self-determination and treaty and inherent title. You provide clear communication, confidence and sound judgment working with, and you have experience working with Indigenous peoples.

You centre justice in your work and you have lived experience that will provide wisdom to this project / these projects.

Aligning with The Circle’s mandate, we seek to work alongside Indigenous, black and other equity seeking peoples and vendors.

The writing process ​

Kin profiles are developed in collaboration with the featured organization and with the guidance of The Circle on Philanthropy. 
​

You will be connected to an Indigenous-led organization who wants to be profiled on The Feast House. You will schedule a 60 minute Zoom session with them and ask a short series of questions. You draft a written profile - MAX 500 words. The draft profile is approved by our kin and the final copy is submitted to The Circle.

Budget + timeline

  • Timeline: 20 finalized and approved new profiles by June 1, 2023 
  • Budget: $5,000-$6,500 ​
