THe circle's Art of Reciprocity series

special edition | Virtual Series

The Art of Reciprocity Series is an opportunity to go deeper with the work of Art of Hosting The Circle has done with our members over the past few years. Given that our primary desire for this particular program offering is for deepening relationships and doing so while being in direct connection to the land - we've opted to move this offering into an online format and adjust the programming to make the best out of our shared time.

Over the course of a year from May 2021 to June 2022 participants will be invited to go deep into some core concepts and practices that we believe lead toward increased personal leadership, deepened clarity about the value of reciprocal relationships between Indigenous and Settler organizations.

For Indigenous participants, this will be an Indigenous-led learning experience to enhance your skills in dialogue, complexity, and connection to settler-philanthropy. Our intention is for settler participants to come away with a desire for transforming the settler created philanthropic sector while learning about and amplifying the wisdom of existing Indigenous practice of generosity, accountability and wealth redistribution.

This series of learning experiences is not for the faint of heart - this work requires personal reflection, deep presence and the ability to build toward an unknown future - alongside folks you don't know yet.

We invite interested parties to take an approach to team and organizational investment - the cost of this program will allow for waived fees for Indigenous organizations and participants, as well, provides a level of support to The Circle to enable field building and sector transformation.

FEE STRUCTURE:

The cost for participation is $2500 per person.

We are offering an option for team rates available to Circle members, Partners in Reciprocity participants and our member network partners (Philanthropic Foundations of Canada (PFC), Environment Funders Canada (EFC) and Community Foundations Canada (CFC).

MORE ABOUT THE ART OF HOSTING: art of reciprocity

The Art of Hosting Active Reciprocity builds upon the 3 day learning intensive typical of Art of Hosting and builds in extra time together being hosted in land based connection, and with meaningful opportunities to slow down, deepen relationship, and experience the culture of the local Indigenous community. You will practice a set of simple yet powerful approaches for designing and hosting (facilitating) meaningful conversations, engagement processes and meetings. It is based in the practices of the Art of Hosting, which develops personal leadership and capacity to facilitate and lead dialogue and engagement in complex situations. It is an effective way of harnessing the collective wisdom and self-organizing capacity of groups and designing collaborative projects with impact.

We believe that people give their energy and lend their resources to what matters most to them – in work as in life. These practices invite people to step in and respond to the challenges facing them in co-creative, authentic and effective ways.
